This week was a special one. All of a sudden I made the appointments with my family for a portrait shoot with grandpa and the youngest member of the family, Vik. The youngest and oldest together on film. I couldn’t wish for more! See how he lights up when he holds Vik.Read More
I got the opportunity to do another portrait shoot. This time with the beautiful Dilem. She’s an actress, living in Rotterdam. I tested out some Kodak Tri-X 400 as a portrait film and I shot another roll of the beloved but disappearing Fuji Neopan Acros 100. The grain in the Tr-X shots is obviously more apparent, which can be a choice of style. For these shots I really like the cleanliness Neopan Acros gives me. It’s time to find a worthy successor, as this film is discontinued. by Fuji.Read More
Judith, Mark and Ivar are a happy little family. They came to visit us this week, so we decided to do a little portrait shoot. It is always a challenge to make photos of little kids. But after a minute Ivar already decided to laugh as best as he can.Read More
We’ve got a new set of portraits this week. The lovely sisters Puck & Maud came over for a shoot. I did some testing with the white backdrop and an out of focus shot. All was shot on my go to portrait film, Fuji Neopan Acros 100. I really hope Fuji is going to restart the production of this wonderful film.Read More
Jildou started her coaching career at about the time that I started working at an advertising agency. That time I was one of her first coachees. Finding out what I wanted to do, where my strengths and weaknesses were and altogether getting to know myself a lot better. If you are around Amsterdam and in need of some quality coaching? I surely recommend JIldou, check out her website: jildouoostenbrug.nl.
For some reason life has made us cross each others paths again. I had the opportunity to do a portrait session with her. I shot one roll of Fuji Neopan Acros 100 during this session. Below are the outtakes of photos I liked the most.Read More
This week I got up all personal and close with my brothers. Four guys and twelve years apart in total. This was a very fun session to do! I took some portraits and I got really close, as inspired by the big head portraits of Martin Schoeller. My little brother took my picture! Afterwards we took out the old Super Nintendo controllers for a little game of Mega Man 2, Double Dragon and Final Fight, good times.Read More
Some more portraits this week with Isa and Jurre. Both very funny people, but I also wanted to capture their more serious side. So I went up close with them, trying to capture them as real as possible. I'm really liking this style of portraiture: one light, one person, one roll.Read More
I'm really starting to like shooting portraits. This week I invited my friends Martijn and Tessa over for a shoot. I had the single portraits in mind again and this time I also wanted to try some 'couple photography'. I had this Maori greeting in mind where they touch each others foreheads. These photos really came out the way I hoped for! So have a little look at this weeks portraits.Read More
This week we had a visit of our friend Berend who lives in Canada. So that was the opportunity for another portrait shoot at home. I took some of the advice that was given me at heart and I placed my studio light a bit further away from the subject. I really like the results, this time with Fuji Neopan Acros 100 in HC-110b at 22 degrees. Yeah, it is a bit warm over here.Read More
Yes, another milestone is reached! This is my first analog portrait shoot with my very own studio light. This week I've tested a few single light setups, from side light until butterfly lighting. I'm already a huge fan of what butterfly or paramount lighting can do on a woman's face. Very beautiful lighting from above the camera. I shot this session on Ilford Pan F 50, next time I'm going for an iso 100 film.
Our cat Banksy also decided that it was time for his moment of fame, he really went for it.Read More
To the beach on a winter day is not the first thing that comes to mind. But this 52 rolls project makes me do things I wouldn't normally do. Which is a good thing!Read More
