GUP New Photo Talent 2020

GUP New Photo Talent 2020

I can’t really believe it. I’m selected as a GUP New Photo Talent 2020 in between so many talented photographers. In 2016 I received the book of the New Dutch Photography Talents of 2017. It was always a dream to also make it into this publication. 2018 was an important year for this, with the 52 rolls project I really pushed myself for making new work. That work eventually made it into this publication. I’m so proud!

One of my photos will be presented at the GUP New Photo Talent 2020 exhibition.

I won the photo competition of the Dutch Photography Museum, what an honor!

The Dutch Photography Museum (Nederlands Fotografiemuseum) organised a photo competition together with their corporate partner Nationale Nederlanden. This competition was to commemorate the Dutch photographer Cas Oorthuys. In his signature square black and white style he photographed a huge archive of pictures from all over the world, but especially the Netherlands.

I’ve sent in a couple of photos out of my 52 rolls project. I got nominated out of 700 photos as one of the 25. Thursday the 1st of November all nominees were at the museum to see who were the three winners. And what do you know? I won first place with this photo of a painter with the impossible task of painting a whole cruise ship with his small paint roller. I’m so honored to be declared the winner by the jury consisting out of the son of Cas Oorthuys, Frank Oorthuys and photographers Hans van der Meer and Jan Dirk van der Burg.

My price

I’ve won an analog baryte print by choice out of the extensive Cas Oorthuys archive. And my photo will be in the exposition of the Nationale Nederlanden DE cafe at the Rotterdam Central station. I’m so excited!
